Tuesday was part two of Amazon’s Prime Day.
To see how local businesses compete, we spoke to a local business owner about how online retailers effect small businesses.
Tina Salmans has been the owner of Mulberry Lane Country Store for nearly 30 years. She said small businesses have had a hard time competing against online retailers, but one they have over online retailers is customer service.
However, she also said that losing business to online retailers directly effects the community.
“It effects the community greatly because, you know, the companies online aren’t here supporting the local communities. They’re not supporting your children’s schools or their sports teams or fundraisers for, for the breast cancer research and all that stuff. They’re not supporting our local, our local organizations here,” said Salmans.
Salmans said gets tougher every year for small businesses to compete.
