Ohio BMV introduces new online check-in

Go online to get in line.

That's how a new registration system-now in use at the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles office in Marietta-is set up to work.

Lieutenant Governor Jon Husted introduced the new system Tuesday in Marietta: the third Ohio city where the program is in use.

People can go online, including on their phones, to get in place in line for BMV services.

When they check in, they have a four-hour window to arrive at the bureau office and get in line.

"It is showing you things you might need to bring," says Deputy Registrar David Lasky. "It's giving you links to things you might need to find before you go to the agency. When you get to the agency, you're getting information before you get your ticket to get in line."

The program is expected to be in use across Ohio later this year.

It can be used for services such as license renewal and vehicle registration.
